Best Hotels in Banff for Couples:
The Juniper Hotel
The Juniper Hotel is a charming mountain retreat located on the slopes of Mount Norquay, in Banff National Park. It offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Rockies and is just a short drive from the town of Banff. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle into town during the day.
When we entered the hotel, there was a serenity and calmness in the quaint lobby and in our room. The Juniper Hotel provides a range of amenities, including comfortable accommodations, an outdoor hot tub with views of the mountains, and easy access to Mount Norquay if you are visiting in the winter and planning to ski or try tubing. The hot tub is great after a day of winter hiking in Banff National Park.
The hotel also features the renowned “Juniper Bistro,” a restaurant that emphasizes locally sourced ingredients and offers a diverse menu of Canadian cuisine, complemented by an impressive selection of wines and craft beers. Guests can also enjoy a cozy lounge with a fireplace and large windows that capture the breathtaking scenery. Whether you are staying here or not, definitely plan on having brunch in the Bistro.
Moose Hotel & Suites
The Moose Hotel & Suites in Banff offers a cozy and luxurious retreat for travelers seeking a memorable mountain getaway. With its central location, this hotel is within walking distance of Banff’s vibrant downtown area, where you can explore shops, restaurants, and art galleries. This charming hotel features a unique rustic-chic design creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
This high-end hotel provides a range of accommodation options, from well-appointed suites to spacious lofts, all designed to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.
One of the best features that guests enjoy is being able to unwind in the rooftop hot pools, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and are the perfect spot to soak in after a day of exploring Banff National Park.
Rimrock Resort Hotel
My recent stay at the Rimrock Resort, nestled among the Sulphur Mountain, was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I drove up to the resort, I was completely awestruck by the beauty of the resort’s surroundings. That feeling of luxurious bliss did not diminish upon entering the lobby.
I had visited Banff to explore its surroundings, however, with all of the amenities offered at the Rimrock Resort, I had a difficult time peeling myself away. The resort offered a plethora of activities including, hiking, swimming in the indoor pool, relaxing at the world-class spa, outdoor skating rink in the winter, carriage rides, firepit, and more. My favorite activity when spending time at the resort was simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery from my private balcony.
The Rimrock Resort is ideally located just outside of Banff at the foot of the Banff Upper Hot Springs, and a two-minute walk from the Banff Gondola. However, there is a free shuttle into town when the urge to explore hits.
Other than the views surrounding the resort, the highlight of my stay at the Rimrock Resort was its restaurants. With three restaurants, a coffee shop, and in-room dining, there is no shortage of choices when it comes to dining. Even now, I can still taste the mouth-watering meal that I enjoyed at the Primrose restaurant.
Although I traveled to Banff solo, the Rimrock Resort is also the ideal place to stay in Banff when traveling as a couple, or family, and even when your furry friend is tagging along.
Fairmont Banff Springs
Staying at the luxurious Fairmont Banff Springs was an unforgettable experience for my husband and me and was undoubtedly one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had as a couple.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the magnificent views, the romantic atmosphere, and the quality of the restaurants and services on site.
The hotel offers numerous amenities, restaurants, and activities. During our stay, we particularly loved the two saltwater pools—one indoor and one outdoor—and the expansive spa with its sauna, steam rooms, and whirlpools.
One tip for future guests is to make reservations online for any activities before arrival, as the hotel can get very busy and spots fill up quickly.
The Fairmont Banff Springs is also pet-friendly! Dogs are welcome for an additional fee, and the resort provides dog beds, bowls, and a dog-friendly welcome gift.
Built-in 1888, Banff Springs is considered one of the best Fairmont Hotels in Canada and is known as Canada’s Castle in the Rockies. Its peaceful and quiet atmosphere is perfect for intimate moments, while the scenic beauty and luxurious amenities add to the charm.
The Fairmont Banff Springs is more than just a hotel; it’s a destination offering a perfect blend of luxury, history, and natural beauty. This makes it ideal for couples celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or any special occasion.
Mount Royal Hotel
Location! Location! Location! I love staying at the Mount Royal Hotel because it is in the heart of downtown Banff and is a close walk to shops, restaurants, and bars.
During a recent getaway, my husband and I stayed in a Heritage room overlooking Banff Avenue with the Canadian Rockies in the background. This was our first stay since the historic hotel was rebuilt after a fire and we were pleased to find bright, modern, rooms with tasteful decor.
In the evening we savored a mouthwatering meal and a bottle of red wine at Brazen, one of the top restaurants in Banff, conveniently located inside the hotel. Later we soaked in the rooftop hot tub and gazed at the stars above. Parking is available (for a fee) just outside the hotel. As an added perk, guests staying at the hotel get free admission to the Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival at the end of January.
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
When planning my trip to Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Fairmont Château Lake Louise reigned supreme as the best place to stay. I recommend the Fairmont Château Lake Louise because it is steps from the lake, providing easy access to the lake and hiking trails, it has stunning unobstructed views, and it is convenient for exploring the area. The hotel also has some dog-friendly rooms so your whole family can be there with you.
While staying at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise, we opted for a room with a view of the lake, which I highly recommend. I loved seeing the lake at different times of the day, especially at sunrise! The beauty of your surroundings also makes your stay romantic. The only drawback to the hotel is that some rooms are a bit older and could use a refresh. However, the views and convenience outweigh the need for a refresh.
Some hotel amenities include a popular spa, multiple restaurants with lake views, and a gym. If you are looking for a treasure that is a 40-minute drive out of Banff, this hotel is a must.
Fox Hotel & Suites
The Fox Hotel & Suites offers standard rooms or suites, depending on your needs. The suites include kitchen nooks and all the regular amenities that will make your stay a comfortable experience. Fox Hotel also offers pet-friendly accommodations so your dog can have a vacation too.
One of the coolest things about this hotel is the hot pools. The first time I went to this hotel I fell in love with the indoor hot pools that are inspired by the Cave & Basin. It’s a very cool experience. There is also a sauna and fitness facility that you can use as a guest.
A perk of this hotel is that as a guest, they provide you with a free pass for Roam Transit so you can explore some of the local hotspots like the Upper Springs, Banff Gondola, and Lake Minnewanka without having to worry about parking, especially in the busy tourist seasons.
Lodges in Banff
If you are looking to stay in a resort that offers seclusion and views of the mountains, I also recommend Hidden Ridge Resort or Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Both of these lodges are nestled in the woods, and offer cozy accommodations and outdoor hot tubs, creating an intimate setting for couples.
Budget-Friendly Accommodations in Banff
In addition to these top options for hotels in Banff for couples, there are a variety of other accommodations available. If you’re looking for a more affordable stay without compromising on comfort, there are plenty of charming boutique hotels, cozy bed and breakfasts, and budget-friendly motels in Banff.
These accommodations provide cozy, intimate settings for couples to enjoy the beauty of the Canadian Rockies without breaking the bank.
Campgrounds near Banff National Park
For those who prefer a more immersive experience in nature, there are campgrounds available in the Banff National Park, allowing couples to connect with the stunning surroundings and starry night skies. These options are perfect for those who want a getaway that’s a bit more rustic and adventurous.
In conclusion, Banff’s breathtaking scenery and ambiance make it an ideal destination. Whether you’re exploring the natural wonders of the Rockies or indulging in luxurious spa treatments and gourmet dining, Banff has something special to offer everyone. And with its range of top-notch hotels, no matter what your budget is, you can find one of the best hotels in Banff for couples to plan your getaway. Your escape is just a reservation away.
